What are the benefits of Laser Genesis?
It’s always good to feel you’re showing the world your brightest, freshest face - and that’s exactly where laser genesis can give you a boost. Popularised by celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, laser genesis really is a “Hollywood Facial”.
“It can give your skin a real glow, perfect pre-wedding or for that special event, says laser treatment clinician and registered nurse Kylie, who runs our treatment program at Your Skin and Laser Clinic.
“With laser genesis, the before and after is striking,” Kylie says. “It’s such an immediate improvement, giving you smaller pores and a more youthful look. That’s why it’s one of the most popular treatments offered by skin clinics in Wellington. Laser Genesis is also used for the management of Rosacea, it helps by reducing the diffused redness and inflammation in the skin. ”
Another reason is that laser genesis allows clients to return to normal activities right after treatment. It uses non-invasive laser technology to warm the upper dermis, stimulating collagen and elastin production.
“Laser genesis uses the skin’s own healing powers to regenerate it, creating a fresher, more youthful appearance,” says Kylie. “With laser genesis, surface blemishes such as fine lines, age spots, wrinkles, redness and acne scars are smoothed away.”
What can I expect pre treatment?
At Your Skin and Laser Clinic we make every effort to match our treatment to your needs, so on your arrival to our Wellington skin clinic you will be asked to complete a consultation form. This helps us to collect necessary information about your skin, medical history and treatments you have recently had. In our private treatment room, your Clinician will go over your consultation form and make sure you are suitable for treatment. Here your Clinician will guide you through the need-to-know information regarding your treatment, create an individualized treatment plan and explain post treatment care. This is an opportunity for you to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have. During your consultation your Clinician will also recommend any products you may need to start using prior to your treatment to ensure your skin is well prepped and to reduce the possibility of adverse reactions.
What does the procedure feel like?
Your Skin and Laser Clinic’s lead clinician, Kylie, says patients often describe this laser treatment as relaxing and feels like warm rain drops on the skin. “You’ll feel a gentle warming of your skin’s surface. It’s very therapeutic - some clients fall asleep through the experience.” During the procedure, the laser handpiece is moved back and forth about half an inch above your skin.
What areas can be treated?
Most people use the benefits of laser skin treatment on their face and neck, which suffer the most effects of our strong New Zealand sunlight and our harsh Wellington winds. However your Clinician may also suggest laser genesis as a treatment to soften out recent scars, or sun damage on any part of the body.
What can I expect post treatment?
Sensitive skins may experience a mild pinkness directly after the treatment, however most patients find that this subsides within an hour or 2. Within a few days, clients will notice their skin becoming smoother and firmer as the collagen layer begins to rejuvenate. Your skin will also experience a beautiful glow for about 2 weeks which comes from the laser stimulating your own hyaluronic in your skin.
Applying sunscreen frequently after laser genesis is vital to achieving the most successful outcome.
How long does it take to heal from laser genesis?
Your Skin and Laser Clinic’s chief Clinician, Kylie, says laser genesis is known in the industry as the “lunchtime treatment”. Laser genesis treatments generally take 30 minutes, and you will be able to resume your normal daily routine straight afterwards. There may be some mild pinkness of the skin, which settles after an hour or 2, and the use of sunscreen is encouraged.
How often should I have laser genesis?
Sun damage, fine lines and diffused redness can be treated effectively with laser genesis in four to six sessions, ideally four weeks apart. Laser genesis also reverses the effects of dermatitis, acne, and rosacea, usually after eight to ten fortnightly treatments.
Because the treatment is so effective, after your initial course of treatments you will only need to return to Your Skin and Laser Clinic once or twice a year to maintain your new youthful look.
Is laser genesis permanent?
Laser genesis can permanently remove or reduce scarring. For other conditions, laser treatment’s effects are long-lasting, between six months and a year.
Is laser genesis better than microneedling?
Both treatments have their advantages, but the main thing about laser genesis is that there is no direct physical contact involved. Gentle laser heat warms the skin from within, encouraging it to produce more collagen, which gives skin a youthful firmness. Laser genesis works on deeper levels of the skin, and the effects are longer lasting. Microneedling stimulates the skin more immediately, and it is the skin’s healing reaction to that which makes for a healthier appearance.
Can laser genesis damage your skin?
Laser genesis is a procedure that is regarded as very low-risk. Apart from an hour or 2 of mild pinkness of the skin, there are usually no adverse reactions to the very gentle laser used by Your Skin and Laser Clinic. Your Skin and Laser Clinic carries out a thorough assessment of your skin type and medical history in order to become aware of any issues you might have.
